Review of Conventions-Related Cultural Policies

2026/03/13

A session dedicated to reviewing UNESCO conventions related to cultural policies currently in place, organized by SLNCU, was held on March 13, 2026, at Temple Trees. Policies and practices associated with conventions and general guidelines concerning three programs – World Heritage Sites, Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Memory of the World – were thoroughly reviewed. Based on the discussions, a baseline document representing the current situation was prepared. It was decided to review progress after six months against the status reflected in this baseline document.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, and representatives from the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the Department of Cultural Affairs, the Department of National Museums, the Department of Archives, the Department of Archaeology, the National Library and Documentation Services Board, and the Central Cultural Fund.
